It’s the Christmas Season!

27 Nov

I am so excited because we are entering such a fun time of year!  Jonathan has the day off today so we plan to go Christmas tree shopping and then hang our stockings.  As a newly married couple, we get the opportunity to make a lot of new Christmas traditions together, and it is so much fun!

Last year we decided to only exchange stockings between the two of us.  I had such a great time picking out special, meaningful gifts for him (and it is amazing how much you can actually stuff into a stocking!).  Another one of our favorite traditions is going to New York City in early December for a fun, winter getaway.  Some of the things we like to do while we are there are go Christmas shopping, see all the amazing Christmas decorations and ice skate in Central Park with hot cocoa.  But, this year we decided to do something a little different since we far away from home.  We decided to fly to Spokane to see our friends, stay in a hotel downtown and experience the wonderfulness of a Spokane Christmas since we would otherwise miss out.  I think this was a good choose even though we LOVE New York.  And, there is always next year!

What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions?

Thanksgiving Treats: Sparkling Sugar Cranberries

19 Nov

Good afternoon friends and happy Monday!  It is raining like CRAZY here and the weather forecast says 100% chance of rain for the next few days.  Looks like I will be spending my days inside with a cozy blanket and a hot beverage.  My second round of coffee is brewing right now!

Can you believe Thanksgiving is this week!  Time is just flying by.  In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to post another fun treat I found for the big dinner.  As I shared before, I have been scouring the internet for fun Thanksgiving ideas (last week I posted this apple cake recipe) and I thought this simple cranberry recipe would be fun to try.

This Sparkling Sugar Cranberries recipe can be found on A Cup of Mascarpone right here.  I think this would be a fabulous appetizer or a great alternative to the traditional cranberries side dish.  Raw cranberries have lots of nutrients, making this a perfect (semi) healthy option.  And, they look so pretty too!

Do you like trying new recipes for Thanksgiving, or would you prefer to stick with the classics?

Happy cooking!

Pinterest Secret Boards

12 Nov

Have you heard?!  Pinterest has just released secret boards!  I just found this out last week and I am so excited.

Ok, some of you may be asking, what is a secret board and what is all the excitement?  Well, a secret board is a board on Pinterest that only you can view.  You also have the option of inviting other people to view it as well but it is not a public board.  The significance in this is that now you can pin things that only you want to see.  For example, I have plans to use mine for pinning Christmas ideas I have for other people as well for pinning things for projects I am working that I have not released yet.  It is genius because now I can have an internet cork board for my secret projects!  So exciting!

To find your secret boards, you can scroll down to the bottom of your profile, below all your existing boards, and you will see three secret boards.  It will give you the option to invite other people to your board, which I also think is genius because, if it is for a secret project, you can include the other people working on the project with you without showing it to the world.

Happy pinning!  And, happy Monday!

Ps.  If you would like to follow me on Pinterest, you can find me here.

Happy Wednesday

7 Nov

Hi friends!  So sorry about my late post today!  We have had a super crazy day over here but I wanted to at least leave you with a cute picture of my sweet nephew.  I took this picture this last weekend when we were in Newport, Oregon with Jonathan’s family.  We had a blast and I hope to post more pictures later.  Isn’t he the cutest?!

Happy Wednesday!

Crushing on…

6 Nov

Happy election day friends!  Can you believe it is finally here?  I have to say, I am relieved.  There is so much division durning an election year and I am ready to move past some of it.  And get on to the holiday season!

Today I have posted a few things I am crushing on this week.  I have my eye on these fabulous navy flats from Zara.  They would be perfect for a holiday party!  Also, I still don’t have an iphone case yet because love how the phone looks all by itself.  But, if I were to get one, I think I would get this simple one from J. Crew.

1. Navy flats from Zara 2. Dress from Ruche 3. Cozy polk-a-dot sweater from Ruche 4. Color block iphone case at J. Crew

Shout out // Kinfolk Magazine

2 Nov

Hi friends!  Do you remember the post I did a couple days ago where I spoke about the fabulous magazine, Kinfolk?  Well, I thought I would post a video created by Kinfolk promoting their magazine.  They have created more videos since this one but I wanted to show it to you because I think it does a great job of capturing the essence of Kinfolk.  Their design is amazing and I think what they are doing is a beautiful thing.  There is something magical about eating together, and that is why I think what they are doing with Kinfolk is so powerful.   Enjoy!
